Boron (B) is an element that is both essential for plant growth, and hence may be limiting, and at higher concentrations it may be toxic to plant growth. This subset contains wheat materials that are tolerant to higher or toxic concentrations of boron.
At the very early stages of growth, symptoms of boron toxicity are indistinguishable from phosphorus toxicity. Wheat appears to be more tolerant to boron toxicity than barley. Symptoms of boron toxicity can sometimes be confused with fungal infections.
