Marula provenance evaluation

Marula (Sclerocarya birrea) is a tree species that occurs naturally across a wide range of semi-arid areas in sub-Sahara Africa. The fruits of marula have high Vitamin C content and are consumed either fresh or processed into beverages and jams, while the kernels yield an edible oil that is also used in personal care products. These accessions from an international provenance trial have consistently shown overall superior growth and productivity. This population of genetically diverse accessions exhibited early and prolific fruiting.
