The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg) conducts research, builds networks, and carries out training and promotion activities to raise awareness of the role of vegetables for improved health and global poverty alleviation. The World Vegetable Center Genebank maintains the world’s largest vegetable germplasm collection with more than 61,000 accessions from 151 countries. WorldVeg Genebank also performs molecular characterizations and genetic diversity analysis of selected parts of the collection to identify genes associated with disease resistance, stress tolerance and high nutritional value.
