Pole bean. Green stems and leaves. White flowers. Pods green when flat, yellow with red stripes at shelling stage, leathery-podded when dry. Pods are pear-shaped in diameter, curved, with short, downward curving beak. Mature pods 3-5" long, 0.5-0.6" wide. Not a snap bean. As a shelling bean, easily shelled, slightly sweet, good flavor. 1-7 seeds per pod. Seeds large, brown-olive. Mid-season maturity when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. from John Coykendall (TN CO J) who received this bean in 2002 from Irene Marsh of Grainger Co., TN. Originally grown on the family farm of Mrs. Morton (born circa 1900) which was located within the present day Great Smoky Mts National Park before the park was established
