Predominantly bush habit, some climbing vines. Extensive purple pigmentation on stems and pod tip. Purple blotches on dry pods. Slightly curved, pendant pods, 8-9.5" long by 0.5" wide. Large, kidney-shaped seeds with purple-gray mottling over a cream background and dark eyes. Dry cowpeas have a standard flavor. Standard productivity. 8-14 seeds per pod. Mid-season maturing. from Seldon Lang of Washington Parish, LA. Brought to Washington Parish, LA by Albert Lang in 1900 when Lang family moved from Magnolia in Pike County, MS
