PD 2017053 was derived from a cross between TX-2354 (PI 607669) and UA 48. TX-2354 is a landrace accession collected from Paraguay in 1986. UA 48 was developed by University of Arkansas from a cross between Arkot 8712 and FM 966. PD 20170053 displays a mid- to full-season maturity and combines excellent yield potential, fiber quality, and wide adaptation. Averaged over six total locations in 2018 and 2019, PD 20170053 produced lint yield equal to Phytogen 72 and UA 48 while higher than Deltapine 393.
