Here are the updates made in the last half of 2023.
The National Agriculture Genetic Resources Centre of Nepal (NAGRC) has uploaded data for a total of 5,000 accessions from its collection.
These accessions belong to 30 different crops, from the tartary buckwheat, to black mustard, to wild rice.
Some have been collected from elevations as high as 4,700 meters! No spoilers in this article, so make sure to explore NAGRC's data here to discover which ones reached such heights.
There is also a printed catalog that you can access here.
The Ethiopian Biodiversity Institute (EBI) has shared the passport data of around 30,800 accessions of barley, sorghum and faba beans. Some of the faba beans accessions include coordinate data, so why not explore them with the Subsetting Tool?
The National Plant Genetic Resources Laboratory of the Philippines (NPGRL) uploaded more than 3,900 passport data records in 2023. They are mainly tubers and root vegetables (cassava, sweetpotato, taro and yam) and pulses (cowpea, pigeonpea, ricebean, and yardlong bean). Look here to browse the data.
The Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute of Ghana (PGRRI) maintains passport data of material donated from outside the country since 1964. This includes cereals, legumes, root and tubers, vegetables, tree crops, spices and ornamentals collected from all corners of the world (cf. map above). Explore PGRRI’s data here.
The National Plant Genetic Resources Centre of Zambia (NPGRC) has shared more than 550 records of landraces collected in the country, all registered in the Multilateral System of Access and Benefit-Sharing (MLS). These accessions have been acquired into the collection after 2012. Explore NPGRC’s entire collection here.
The Margot Forde Forage Germplasm Centre in New Zealand (AgResearch) has uploaded new data for around 1,300 accessions of Trifolium subterraneum. Some accessions in the genebank's collection date from as far back as the mid-50s, and the majority originates from countries around the Mediterranean. Explore the collection of AgResearch here.
The national genebanks of Kenya (GeRRI), Nigeria (NACGRAB), Ivory Coast (CNRA) have shared characterisation and evaluation data for the first time, and in searchable format.
This is part of over 50 trait datasets shared since the end of April 2023, when Genesys introduced a new method for uploading trait data that enables unpacking and filtering these datasets directly on the platform.
A lot of our data providers have refreshed their passport data since May 2023, namely the National Centre for Genetic Resources and Biotechnology of Nigeria (NACRAB), the Genetic Resources Research Institute of Kenya (GeRRI), the European network, encompassing more than 409 genebanks (ECPGR), as well as all our CGIAR partners, and the World Vegetable Center.
