Oca accessions with chromosome number determined
Oca accessions with chromosome number determined
The chromosome number and ploidy level of 813 accessions from the Oca (Oxalis tuberosa) collection and 11 accessions of related wild species from the CIP genebank were determined in meristematic cells of roots sprouted from stem cuttings using an optical microscope and/or flow cytometry. A total of 811 accessions of cultivated oca (Oxalis tuberosa) were octoploid (2n=8x=64) and only two were tetraploid (2n=4x=32). The 11 related wild Oxalis accessions were diploid (2n=2x=16).
