Level of ploidy and chromosomal number of wild potato species (second version)

As part of the International Potato Center (CIP) genebank activities, the ploidy level 3x of accessions were estimated using flow cytometry of DNA from leaflets of young leaves and chromosome counting of root tip meristematic cells under optical microscope (Orrillo et al., 2009). These data are useful for different wild species related studies, germplasm characterization and for use of wild diversity in pre-breeding schemes.
