"Originated as a seed; isozyme tests indicated we selected a nucellar seedling. This is the major Rangpur used as a rootstock in Brazil. It is not clear whether it differs from other Rangpur types...it is more likely to be valuable than many of the other Rangpur types in the CVC." (ML Roose, 1996)<P>At one time, there were four "Brazilian" rangpurs: <a href="https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/accessiondetail.aspx?1829117">RRUT 62</a>, <a href="https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/accessiondetail.aspx?1829123">RRUT 68</a>, <a href="https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/accessiondetail.aspx?1829120">RCRC 4133</a>, and <a href="https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/accessiondetail.aspx?1847251">RRUT 27</a>. Three of the (RRUT 62, RRUT 68, and RCRC 4133) were actually obtained in India. Since none of them appeared to differ from each other or from other rangpurs (using the technology available), RRUT 27 was retained as representing the most authentic Brazilian rangpur.
