    Number of ears randomly harvested and characterized in the lab.

  • Lodging

    Susceptibility to lodging. Scored before harvesting in a scale similar to percentages.

  • Number of ears per plant

    Average of 10 randomly selected plants from the middle of the plot.

  • Kernel type

    Kernel type.

  • Kernel colour

    Three colours observed in order of frequency.

  • Ear length

    Mean length of 10 random ears from the point of attachment on the ear peducle to the tip of the dehusked ear.

  • Kernel rows per ear

    Number of rows of kernel on 10 randomly selected ears.

  • Endosperm texture

    Visual measurement looking at longitudinal cut seed.

  • Thousand grain weight

    Weight of one thousand seeds adjusted to 10% moisture content.

  • Kernel uniformity

    Visual measurement whether the kernel colours are the same or not.

  • Endosperm colour

    Visual measurement of the endosperm colour.
