Fruit: size medium to large, W57-80 x L39-69 mm; shape flat to intermed- iate conic, convex, prominently ribbed from calyx basin to stem cavity, angular very conspicuous 'crown' apex; skin pale, greenish yellow, dull orange-red blush, carmine blotches and stripes, radiating from stem cavity, sometimes hairline from calyx end, smooth, very greasy; flesh firm, compact, tender, a little coarse and mealy, greenish or yellowish white; flavor acid, slightly bitter; season second-early to mid. Tree: vigorous, very spreading, produces spurs freely; formerly used as a cider apple.
