Read about the new download methods and upgrades to Genesys tools to wrap up the year.
Before proceeding with any download from Genesys, make sure you are logged in to your account Step 1-2) , and keep in mind you need to have filtered for a maximum of one million accessions from the filter pane on the left hand side (Step 3-4). Any number of accessions beyond this cannot be downloaded from Genesys in one go.
In the passport data browser, you can access the three types of downloads in the action button at the bottom right of the page (Step 5). Here is a refresher on those different options (Step 6-8):
Download ZIP allows you to download passport data for up to 200,000 accessions in a Darwin Core format, as a zipped folder containing CSV files.
Download MCPD allows you to download passport data for up to 200,000 accessions in an MCPD v.2.1 Excel file.
When a selection of accessions is active (Step 9), this turns the options displayed in the download radio button to actions specific to material requests. You can choose to either add (Step 10) or remove (Step 11) your selection from My List.
The same logic applies to the accession tables in searchable trait datasets, and in My List, which now has a tabular view of accessions enabled.
The new release of taxonomy-tools adds support for the latest format of USDA Taxonomy data, and we implemented a new mechanism to match the taxa provided by the genebanks with the taxa in GRIN Taxonomy.
A new release of Embedded Genesys (version 1.6.0) is now available!
The 1.6.0 release adds support for browsing trait data on genebanks' institutional websites! Subsets and Datasets are ordered by date of publication (latest first). A few other bugs were also fixed.
You can explore the new features on the demo page and if you are not familiar with this functionality, you can read more about it here.
We added a new tool to help genebank data managers configure and deploy Embedded Genesys on institutional websites.
