Genesys welcomes Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute (PGRRI) of Ghana as a new data provider.

The Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute (PGRRI) collects and conserves plant genetic resources of Ghana in order to ensure their effective conservation and use for food security and sustainable agricultural development (CSIR, 2020).

PGRRI was established in 1964 with the responsibility of conserving both orthodox and recalcitrant germplasm, conserved through cold-, field- and in-vitro storage. It is one of the 13 research institutes of Ghana’s national Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (FAO AGRIS, n.d.)

PGRRI holds a diverse germplasm collection composed of legume, cereal, vegetable, root and tuber, medicinal, spice plants, fruit, forest tree species and crop wild relatives, so stay tuned for diverse new passport data from Ghana!
