CGIAR genebanks marked the end of the Genebank Platform by updating data on more than half a million accessions on Genesys.

Collectively, CGIAR genebanks share on Genesys passport data on around 820,000 accessions managed in their collections.

As the Genebank Platform wrapped up at the end of 2021, Genesys received data on some 18,000 new accessions, and updates on 546,000 previously published accessions.

Newly added accessions, highlighted in purple above, include groundnut, sorghum, pearl millet, and wheat among other crops. Most of these accessions are in the Multilateral System of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, and are available for distribution with the SMTA.

The team at the Crop Trust thanks the CGIAR staff for their contributions in keeping their data in Genesys up-to-date and useful to all who need it.
